This week has all been about spam. A veritable deluge of it.

Yet another customer, let’s call them Fedup & Co, have been receiving more than their fair share of spam so are trialling our smtp plus service. This is where we filter inbound smtp mail for malware and spam before passing it on to their own mail server. In less than 24 hours we stripped out 700 spam and malware laden email that had been destined for just a handful of people – small wonder they were so fed up!

The amount of unsolicited email being flung around the net is rising fast. Some of it is from real businesses who are probably just trying to increase sales in this difficult time but most is not. And a lot of it contains phishing attacks which will attempt to capture your account login details.

So here is a timely reminder to always, always, always be wary of unexpected emails that ask you to login to any account by clicking a link they contain.

If you think the email may be genuine and you want to login to your account do not click the link—instead open a new web browser window and type in the usual web address you use for that organisation.

Be wary and stay safe.
